Pressed Ceiling Underpinning

When a pressed ceiling hangs or sags, due to pulling away from the trusses, it needs to be repaired. This repair work is called underpinning. This condition can be very dangerous due to the potential for a collapse of parts or even the entire ceiling which can cause serious injury or even death. It is caused when the original nails used to pin the pressed ceiling to the trusses have pulled out and the trusses are no longer supporting the ceiling. Main causes of this condition can be old age, no maintenance, ground vibration, earthquakes, tremors, damage due to walking on the ceiling in the roof space or weight due to the accumulation of dust and insulation over many years.

We will visit the client’s site and assess the degree of sagging without charging a call-out fee. We will then provide the client with a full report with photographs and a detailed quote on the scope of work to be done to complete the underpinning, making the ceiling safe and secure again. Care will be taken to ensure that there is no damage to property, floors, walls, windows and furniture. Where possible furniture will be moved to a remote area to prevent damage. Immovable items will be suitably protected with drop sheets. The floor will also be completely covered with drop sheets.
